AMTECH Course outline: Basic Watercraft Maintenance and Repair
Course Profile: (8 or 16 hours) So often overlooked in the powersports industry, lack of proper maintenance is often the root cause of system failures. Learn why simple maintenance procedures are critical, and how they will help prevent the majority of system breakdowns. The following systems will be covered: propulsion, electrical (starting; ignition; charging), cooling system, exhaust system, fuel system (carbureted & fuel injection), two and four-stroke theory. The instructor will also go over troubleshooting techniques so you will be able to quickly identify the system's failure mode. The goal of this coursse is to show you how these systems work and how they relate to each other. After attending this course you will feel more confident tackling these systems, and you will be able to repair most any PWC on the market today.
Instructor: Neil Haney is currently employed as a instructional support assistant for a powersports program for SUNY-Canton in upstate New York. With over 20 years experience in owning and operating a powersports business and working as an auto technician, Mr. Haney will provide the student with the proper methods of servicing PWC products. Mr. Haney is also an active member of is a member of the Marine Industry Technical Education Council (MITEC). |
