AMTECH Course outline: Pincipals of Troubleshooting
Course Profile: (16-hours) Learn about the basic theory of troubleshooting in this two-day course. These skills will be applicable to all types of troubleshooting with special emphasis on the marine engine and electrical systems (including the new CAN Bus technology). By following these basic steps to troubleshooting you will decrease time spent finding the bug(s) and increase your accuracy of finding the real cause. As a result, you will reduce your customer's repair cost and increase his satisfaction. The two-day class will consist of about 60% class presentation, and 40% demonstration of diagnostic equipment and techniques. The material is of general nature and will apply to troubleshooting of marine engine systems, including: Outboard, Inboard, Sterdrive, and Diesel. You will receive a handbook to keep and see demonstrations using a variety of equipment and test meters.
Instructors: Greg Eck's 23 years in the marine industry includes working for a boat builder, a marine products distributor, a gasoline engine manufacturer and a diesel engine manufacturer. Currently he is the manager of special products at Yanmar USA and duites include product testing, developing new diagnostic training materials, and manual design and development. Mr. Eck is a member of the Marine Industry Technical Education Council (MITEC). |
