12/14/05 Experts discuss tips for success

Organizers today announced a lineup of speakers participating in the 2006 Conference on Marine Industry Technical Training (COMITT).

 

The event will take place Jan 23 to 24 in Safety Harbor, Fla., just outside Tampa. The topic is “Resources for Success,” and speakers are leading figures from the marine industry, academia and government.

 

Bill Yeargin, executive vice president for Rybovich, will serve as moderator. Speakers include Larry Appleby, The Riviera Group; Dolores Blueford, Northwest Center of Excellence for Marine Manufacturing & Technology; David Flagler, Carteret Community College; Catherine Kennedy, Workforce Florida; Ed Lofgren, 3A Marine Service; Barbara Montalbano, Sea Ray Boats and Alex Wittig, Council on Occupational Education.

 

The American Boat & Yacht Council, the National Marine Manufacturers Association and Professional BoatBuilder magazine co-produced the event.

 

Speakers will also explore a lineup of topics to help boatbuilders, marine manufacturers, suppliers, surveyors, marine underwriters, repair facilities, dealers, educators and occupational training experts locate resources available for education and training initiatives. 

 

Participants will be able to meet with the newly formed 22 member Marine Industry Technical Education Council, an organization formed to develop an industry-wide approach to voluntary management, accreditation and certification of marine workforce technical education and training programs.
