AMTECH Course outline: 40-Hour Outboard Electronics Ignition School
40-Hour program consists of 4-ten-hour days of training (Wed. - Sat.)

Course Profile:
The Outboard Electronics Ignition School is an in-depth 40-hour workshop that will give the student hands-on instruction in the proper diagnosis and troubleshooting of all outboard electronic ignition systems.
The forty-hour course covers the following topics:
Basic Electrical: basic concepts of power, current and voltage; resistance and wires; diodes and components; electronic test equipment
Boat-Tronics 101: batteries, flywheels and stators; ignitions systems; charging systems; timing systems; power packs and switch boxes; ignition coils and spark plugs
Optical Ignition Systems: optical sensors; power pack functions; troubleshooting
Outboard EFI Systems: principals of EFI systems; sensors and functions; high performance
Direct Fuel Injection Technology: principals of ECU/ECM/EMM operating systems; engine management systems; ignition, fuel and oiling systems; fault-finding, diagnostics, and service procedures.
This course is taught at the CDI Electronics manufacturing facility in Madison, Alabama. All students will be given a plant tour of the manufacturing operation.
