Individuals who master at least three of the American Boat & Yacht Council’s certification programs are now eligible to receive ABYC’s newest designation of master certified technician.
“It takes a committed technician to take and renew any one of the ABYC certification exams but it is truly an achievement to be certified in three or more areas — and that is why we wanted to recognize these individuals,” said Bonnie Barsa, ABYC education director, in a statement.
The ABYC certification program was launched in 1998 and to date has 49 individuals who are eligible to receive the master certified technicians, according to ABYC. In addition to the certificate, the individuals will be recognized on www.abycinc.org.
ABYC offers five certification exams: electrical, marine corrosion, diesel engine and support systems, gasoline engines and support systems and composite boat building.
